Title: Characterisation of the flexural behaviour of fibre reinforced concrete under impact loads

Abstract:Steel-fibre-reinforced concrete (SFRC) has demonstrated its effectiveness in improving concrete properties. An interesting application of this material may be for structures subject to impact loads. An experimental camping was conducted in order to determine the dynamic properties of SFRC, with a drop weight testing machine recently installed in the UPM Structures Laboratory. The tested specimens, reinforced with different types of steel fibres and fibre content, showed that SFRC mixes have improved mechanical properties and a strain-rate sensitivity different than that of plain concrete.
