Abstract:
The bridge over the Tajo River at the Alcántara Reservoir experienced, in an initial phase of the construction, when the structure was only constituted by the arch, several episodes of vibrations induced by vortex shedding. This article describes the dynamic calculation procedure employee to analyze the stability of the structure subjected to this action, during their constructive phases and later in service. The procedure starts at the formulation contained in the Eurocode for this phenomenon, extracting of it a set of harmonic loads with those an analysis in the frequency domain, of the different partial structures present in the constructive process and of the final structure, is done.
