Abstract:
The Buenavista Building Complex, built in Oviedo during the period 2004-2011 has been the greatest planning operation carried out in Asturias in the last decades. The project was promoted by the company Jovellanos XXI together with the Oviedo City Council and it includes three parking floors, a huge shopping center, two office buildings which accomodates different departments of the Principality of Asturias, a luxury hotel and finally the New Congress and Exhibition Center of Oviedo. Both, the architectural and structural design of the whole complex, are the work of Mr. Santiago Calatrava Valls and combine concrete and steel elements as wells as different structural tipologies. All the details are described and analyzed in this paper.
