Abstract:
The cosntruction of this important building for offices in Madrid is one of the first applications of the postensioned slabs technique with unbonded tendons in our country. It will be a reference that probably will contribute to its diffusion. The surface designed and constructed has been around 20000 m2. the thickness of the slab is 0,25 m to span 10 m. The typical shape is a polygon of eight sides, which diameter is 30 m aproximatively. Taking this shape as a basis, the result were twenty different layouts due to instalation holes, vertical communication and functional adjustements in different levels. The paper sumarizes the process of the construction of structural calculations, the use of progremmes of finite elements to evaluate the slab behaviour, the incorporation of the postensioning forces as equivalent exterior forces and the CAD progremme used for the structure definition and to facilitate the set inplace of the tendons.
