The project also includes two north-south connections to Highway 401. Proes, together with the U.S. company Janssen & Spaans Engineering has developed the construction project of the road, drainage and structures of the West Durham Link (WDL) and the 2 highway interchanges. In this article the proposed action is described, highlighting the main documents used and showing the most relevant aspects of the design of the structures, with particular emphasis on the typology mainly adopted in this project: Bridges with integral and semi-integral abutments. Finally, a comparison is made with similar experiences of integral bridges in Spain and conclusions are drawn.
