Abstract:
The Viaducto de La Cartuja is part of the infrastructure works undertaken in Sevilla on occasion of the Expo '92. It is located on the Cartuja island in front of the north gate of the exposition. The Viaduct has a length of 526,5 m, with 24 m spans, without structural joints in the whole length. The deck is formed of a cilindrical vault with four cantilevers, two in the upper side, support a dual carriadgeway with a width of 26,1 m; other two in the lower side performed as pedestrian passages. The piers of variable eliptical transverse section are inclined 53 degrees with the horizontal. The deck construction was carried out span by span, by means of a running formwork; it has been made a previous study in order to standarize the operations that were repeated identically in the 22 constructive phases of the deck.
