Abstract:This report presents the project and construction of the Cruzul and Horta Viaducts with prefabricated segments in balanced cantilever. First, a general description is given of the viaducts; then the segments prefabrications depot is covered, with special reference to geometrical control. Thirdly the placing on site of the segments is described, with reference to the metal launcher, the resins used and operationms of completion, load test, the personnel involved in the design and on site and some bibliografical references used in the design of these bridges are dealt with. In the exposition, some pearagraphs relating to the calculation of the structure have been intentionally placed in the sections related with these calculations. This has been preferred to devoting an independient section to the calculation, to show the relating the relation existing between the construction process and structural calculation in modern construction methods of large bridges.
