Abstract:
This viaduct is included in the North Acces to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria town and La Luz harbour. The structure is a composite steel-concrete arch with 162 m span and 41 m rise, from which a prestressed concrete deck 30 m wide and 211 m long is hanged by twelve couples of cable hangers. The deck also leans on two points of the arch as well as on two piers and two abutments. The arch is a box cross section 3,60 m wide, except along 18,30 m clouse to the abutments, where it is varying between 3,60 m and 6,50 m. The depth is varying from 2,75 m in the middle to 4,00 m in the abutments. The cable hangers, distant 10,15 m each other, are composed by 27 or 31 strands 0,6"" diameter, with individual polyethylene sheating with triple protection. The deck is prestressed in both directions, longitudinal and transversal. It is composed by two monobox-girder 12,75 m wide each, joined by 18 bridge ties at the suspension or leaning sections. The cantilevers of the box are 2,90 m long the external one and 2,45 m long the inner one. The construction method of the arch starts at the assembling of the steel arch segments, by erection in cantilever trough temporary cable stays. Once closed the steel arch, the concrete is poured inside, while the own arch acts as selfcentring and formwork. The side deck segments are constructed over centering. the rest of the deck is precasted in five segments 18,50 m long and 660 m ton weight, each one precast on the floor, and erected after from the own arch with jackets. Once placed in their definitive position and the erecting cables changed by a couple of cable hangers, the deck segments are joined and prestressed.
