Abstract:
Multiple-layer reinforcing bar curtains may be required when constructing heavy industrial or nuclear structures. Bar sizes and spacing should be as consistent as possible within and between curtains. Recommendations are made for detailing and installation of multiple-layer curtains at wall corners. Warnings are provided regarding staggering lap splices in members with multiple layers. Recommendations are also made for placing sequencing of slab top reinforcing over intersecting beams. Approximate bar diameters are provided to help designers avoid spatial problems.
