Abstract:Describes the processes used to manufacture vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer (VAE) redispersible powders, which are used as admixtures to hydraulic cement formulations. Some properties of the powders are given, and properties of powder-modified portland-cement mortars are compared with those of unmodified and VAE latex-modified portland-cement mixtures. Recommended applications of VAE-powder mixtures are discussed with the advantages of using such powders, and suggested starting formulations for these applications are provided.
