Abstract:Prestressed concrete fender pile research sponsored by the U.S. Navy has resulted in a new class of prestressed elements capable of high energy absorption for use in a wide range of pier-fendering applications. Analysis and testing results indicate that such piles are a promising fendering alternative to timber and steel, suitable for both retrofit and new construction.
