Abstract:
A computerized interactive method is presented for the design and/or analysis of reinforced concrete rectangular columns subjected to axial load and biaxial bending moment. The method insures both equilibrium and compatibility of the final solution. The relationship between the location of the neutral axis on a section and the corresponding position of this load combination on the failure surface of the section has been closely observed. This leads to an efficient convergence algorithm which, in turn, enables design of reinforced columns with biaxial moment in an efficient and rational manner not available previously.
