Abstract:
Artificially imposed changes in the structural system may create drastic stress redistributions due to creep (or relaxation of concrete stresses). This important fact has frequently been ignored. This paper illustrates the problem for a typical case: prestressed concrete tanks. This time-dependent stress-strain relationship is assumed to correspond to the 1988 proposal for revision of the CEB-FIP Model Code.
