Title: Limit Design for Concrete Bridges
Author(s): V. Ramakrishnan, S. Rajasekaran, and R. Krishnamorrthy
Publication: Special Publication
Appears on pages(s): 552-581
Keywords: bridges (structures); computer programs; continuous beams; girders; hinges (structural); influence; lines; limit design method; moving loads; reinforced concrete; rigid frame bridges; rotation; structural analysis
Abstract:The paper extends the application of A.L.L. Baker's ultimate load theory to the design of non-prismatic continuous girder and rigid frame bridges subjected to rolling loads. It deals mainly with two new aspects: (1) determination of influence lines for the rotation of 'plastic hinges' and (2) calculation of influence coeficients for non-prismatic members.
