Title: Field Measurement of End Support Reactions of a Continuous Multi-Girder Skew Bridge
Author(s): Amin Ghali, J.M. Strong, and K.J. Bathe
Publication: Special Publication
Appears on pages(s): 260-271
Keywords: bridge bearings; bridges (structural); composite beams; composite construction concrete and steel); continuity (structural); field tests; girders; skew bridges
Abstract:The reactions at the end bearings of an actual 8-span, 7-girder composite skew bridge are determined experimentally due to self weight and due to a 20-ton truck load. The results are compared with theoretical calculations which involve several assumptions. The investigation is intended to examine the vailidity of the assumptions involved in the analysis.
