Abstract:The principle of spraying a cement-sand mixture was developed in the early 1900's (trade name of Gunite) and has been used for special applications by the mining industry throughout the years. Howevever, this same process using a coarse aggregate (now called shotcrete) was not developed until the mid-50's when it was used on a tunnel project in Austria.
