Abstract:
A summary of the papers presented in the symposium on Designing for Effects of Creep, Shrinkage, and Temperature, including: (a) the problem; (b) living with the problem; (c) data required; (d) a choice of design approach; (e) some specific recommendations. Having recognized the problem, the purpose of this symposium is to provide guidance for designers. The papers submitted suggest that there are two available approaches: 1. Design so as to avoid the problem; 2. Learn to live with it.
