Abstract:
The interest taken in the last few years in girderless floor construction, which was first introduced to any large extent by the author at the plant of Proctor and Gamble, Armourdale, Kans., in 1903, for the high loads of 2,500 lbs. per sq. ft., and the many discussions in regard to the proper calculation of such concstruction, caused the author to look through the books treating of the elastic theory.
