Abstract:
During the International Congress of Engineers in 1893, at Chicago, Ill., I was appointed by the American Society of Civil Engineers to present a paper on "American Grain Elevators," having at that time had about ten years' experience in the construction and erection of grain elevators in North and South America. Elevators at that time had the same functions as they have today and may as a rule be divided into certain classes as follows in the paper.
