Abstract:
Similar to thin brick products, which are commonly embedded in the face of precast and tilt-up panels to add architectural appeal, the “thin block” product described in this article provides a new finish option for wall panels. The concrete masonry units are installed similar to thin brick, but eliminate the need for templates or spacers by using plastic clips for alignment and sand swept into the joints to prevent the concrete from bleeding through to the face of the unit.
