Abstract:
Construction of a modern version of the familiar arch bridge was completed in May of 1982, in Taipei, Taiwan. The multispan bridge is composed of Y-shaped piers and precast, prestressed T-girders. An analysis of the three dimensional Y-piers and the staged prestressing procedures, to cope with different loading stages during construction, is presented and discussed in this article.
