Abstract:
Recent studies have shown that construction loads on supporting systems may appreciably exceed design capacity. Paper attempts to analyze the effects of loaded powered buggies on supporting systems when used to transport concrete. A design value of 85 psf (4.06 kPa) was found to be a more realistic live load for the buggies than the present in-service value of 75 psf (3.58 kPa). The effects of this load on wooden decking, joists, and stringers also is studied.
