Abstract:The basic fundamental conditions involved in the design and construction of joints are discussed. Reccomendations are given for the design, fabrication and installation of load-transfer devices, the construction and finishing of the concrete surrounding the joint assembly and the sealing of joints. A supplement disusses joints for heavy duty airport pavements.
