Abstract:
Inspection procedures and personnel assignments used by the Illinois Division of Highways for large, medium and small jobs are described. The importance of assurance that materials used are adaquately tested and approved before shipment, determination of proper proportions by trial mixtures, control of air entrainment, correction of batch weights and proper preparation and testing of concrete specimens are emphasized. The inspection of ready-mixed concrete supplied to small jobs poses a problem still lacking in adaquate solution.
