Abstract:
The development of concrete methods for placing thin concrete walls is described. After seveeral attempts using the standard method of pouring between double forms, a new method was developed which permitted the sucessful construction of 3/4-in. and 1 1/2-in. concrete walls. Tests were also conducted to determine the practicablity as well as the strength of Gunite as a medium to unite precast units into a monolithic ship. Later these methods were used sucessfully in the construction of a concrete landing craft for the United States Navy.
