Abstract:
The Russian type of lightweight concrete described used a rosin-glue emulsion to preserve the air voids before the intial set of the cement. Shrinkage was decreased and strength increased through high pressure steam curing. The autoclave treated foam concrete ised in the production of precast industrial roof slabs had a unit weight of 47 lb per cu ft and a compresive strength of over 500 psi. The lightweight slabs used in a load carrying capacity and as insulation, reduced construction time by 50 percent and costs by as much as 20 percent . Test data on roof slabs and production procedures are also described.
