Abstract:
The method described for the determination of air in hardend concrete permits the examination of 6 x 8-in. and 6 x 10-in. random plane face-ground hardened concrete specimens which more truly reporesent the aggregate and air voids in the actual concrete than smaller specimens. The construction and use of the instruments are discussed and results of the tests are given. Because of the time and equipment necessary to measure air content by means of the integrator, it is not adaptable to field use. However, as a laboratory tool it provides a means for quick and accurate determination of total air.
