Abstract:
Five different composite T-beams were tested to destruction to observe the behavior under loading. Reinforcement in four of the beams consisted of 0.105-in. diameter high tensile strength wire, tensioned to various stresses. For comparisions, one beam was reinforced with mild steel. Deflections, strains and crack widths were measured and recorded. Design and ultimate loads are examined in the light of estimated values based on simplified assumptions. Observations are drawn regarding warning of failure.
