Abstract:
Methods are developed for the stress analysis and design of the multistory reinforced concrete bracing wall, by treating it as a special type of beam and column frame having relatively wide members. Elastic requirements for a bracing wall are established. There is a discussion of the general problem of lateral load distribution to bracing walls and an intirely new method of distribution is presented, which equalizes wall deflections.
