Abstract:
ln May 1958 the authors inspected concrete construction in Moscow and Leningrad where they visited laboratories, design offices, precasting piants housing developments, and bridge and plant construction. They report that precast concrete is being used almost exclusively for building construction in these cities where 86,000 apartments, mostly in five-story buildings are planned for 1959. Prestressed concrete is used wherever possible in the Soviet Union and the Russians are engaged in large-scale research and development of concrete materials and construction.
