Title: A Modified Approach for Estimating the Cracking Moment of Reinforced Concrete Beams
Author(s): A. S. Salah El-Din and M. M. El-Adawy Nassef
Publication: Journal Proceedings
Appears on pages(s): 356-360
Keywords: beams (supports);cracking (fracturing);bending moments;energy methods;finite element method;reinforced concrete;structural analysis;structural design.
Abstract:Using an energy balance cracking criterion and the finite element method, it was possible to derive a new expression to predict cracking moments of reinforced concrete beams. Comparative study of results obtained from both the experimental tests and the theoretically reached expression indicates satisfactorily the adaquacy of this expression.
