Abstract:
The warping of concrete slabs due to shrinkage is adversely affected by the presence of eccentric reinforcement. Experimental investigation of such effect is reported examining the possiblity of using eccentric reinforcement to reduce or even eliminate such warping. Results confirm the theoretical method suggested for predicting shrinkage warping, which is based on Carlson's results for the shrinkage strain of a concrete member drying from one face only. They also show that the amount of steel required to eliminate shrinkage warping is within a moderate value.
