Abstract:
The modern age of precast concrete pavement technology in the U.S. began in the early 2000s with a few pilot and demonstration projects on both highways and airfields. The technology is now commonly employed by more than 20 highway agencies in the U.S. and Canada and more than 150 lane-miles of precast concrete pavement have been constructed. This presentation will review key developments in precast concrete pavement technology, describe the current state-of-practice concerning precast pavement system design and implementation, and forecast future directions for industry research and implementation. Dr. Tayabji’s contributions to the field will be highlighted throughout the presentation.
