Abstract:
50 years ago (in 1945) the first prestress concrete precast member for buildings was made in Spain. Nowadays, the precast industry offers economy, high-technology, quality and proper solutions for building. Therefore, precast members used in high quality buildings will be the future of the precast industry. Many security procedures have been settle by the precast industry in order to guarantee the efficient contribution of the precast in the total quality of buildings. Actually, the use of precast members is not only the use of a catalogue but is also an alternative way for building any kind of structures. In many cases, this is the more efficient and competitive way for building, based on terms, price and quality previsions fulfilment. The method for building multi-storey unbraced frames with columns and beams monolithically joined through reinforcing bars and concrete placed ""in situ"" at the same time than the concrete required to complete the precast floor slabs, is a quick system, avoiding propping and wasted time in waiting for the concrete to be hardened . In this cases, precast allows reducing the building term, not only the construction of the structure but also the complete procedure, while it anticipates the begining of other activities. This structures construction can reach a 1000 m2/day rate.
