Abstract:
Cases of included loads applied on structural supports, state the necessity of knowing aspects about stresses distribution in the contact zone. The present work shows the use of photoelasticity and finite elements methods to obtain characteristics stresses values in a beam wall that support a transversal beam inserted. The problem is initially treated by considering a model of lineal elastic behavior. Under such conditions stress concentration factors are stablished wich are proposed as a background to be taken into account, specially when discussing the design of de connecting join configuration predicted for joining parts in accordance with the forces to be transmitted. As an example, such stresses values are compared with respect to the analitycal solution of the typical case with external loads applied on the edge, obtaining maximun relation for tensile, compression or shear stresses as to stablish basis of general practical criterion ot this problem through models in two size relations.
