Abstract:
It is known that the use of prestressing in the building construction introduces a lot of advantages in the design as well as in the construction and general economy. The most representative structural elements of this typology, slabs, fit perfectly with the use of prestressing, whose technique makes use of two diferent systems: individual unbonded strands and bonded, within oval sheath, tendons. Each system provides diferent advantages, and both lead to a high speed construction, since the removal of scaffolding and props can be carried out in a short period of time after casting the concrete. However, the use of such type posttensioning has been used seldom in Spain, in spite of the excellent results achieve. The slabs of the building that are shown thereafter, were designed and constructed with posttensioned bonded tendons within oval sheath, becoming the first example of this type in Spain.
