Abstract:
Recently the experimental evaluation of dynamic parameters of the structures has a subject of increasing interest. When bridges are considered, this evaluation is not possible when conventional techniques are used (mainly the FFT using displacement records) in traffic ambient vibrations, recorded by acceleration transducers. Therefore in the paper a new technique is presented to avoid this limitations. The conditions required to a dynamic test in order to easily be performed are: - Using the traffic on the bridge as dynamic excitation. - Using measurement devices whose placement on the bridge is easier and quicker (acceleration transducers versus displacement transducers). - Using the minimum number of measurement transducers. The latest precessing of vibrations obtained in such a way should take into account the differential characteristics of the vibration phenomena involved and therefore non conventional dynamic parameter estimation techniques should be used. After present the theoretical background, the proposed method is succesfully applied to the experimental records derived from different dynamic tests performed on a real viaduct.
