Abstract:
The 1812 Constitution cable-stayed bridge over Cadiz Bay includes a total length of 1,180m, and covers the main span of 540m between the towers, two back spans of 200m long, and two partially cable-stayed spans 120m long. The cable-stayed bridge, with its maximum span has determined the design of the whole bridge. The design criteria for both vertical and horizontal loads are shown. The specific concepts for the composite steel-concrete cross section, precast slabs, cable-stays, bearing devices, and expansion joints are explained.
