Abstract:
The communication presented collects the experience of the project and construction of a group of structures in the Glorias Catalanas Square, in Barcelona. The junction of the three most important arteries in Barcelona (Diagonal, Meridiana and Gran Vía) is produced in this Square. The structural solution has consisted in the construction of a couple of 450 meters length bridges bridges in the extension of the axis of Gran Via that is the one who carries the principal traffic in the streets that join the Square. Both bridges, keeping their simmetry respect the axis of Gran Vía are separated when they approach the center of the square. The bridges join, moreover, with two closing roadways that form an interior space 200 x 160 m oval shape, approximately, and that allow an upper ring of traffic on the level of the square . That allowed the creation of an important interior space, that has been treated as an urban park, permitting to recover the sense of square to the space always known as Glorias Square.
