Abstract:
The Escaleritas viaduct (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain) has a length of 220m, divided in 4 spans of 100m (the cable-stayed span), 42m, 42m and 36m, respectively. This genuinely urban structure links the districts of Escaleritas and La Feria and provides this ever-growing area with a great spatial sense. The viaduct is 21.50m wide. The deck is a steel-concrete composite box section supported by the piers in a single bearing point, creating a torsion span of 220m. The 36.0m-high steel pylon connects the 10 front stays supporting the deck (along its longitudinal axis) with the two groups of retention stays, which are anchored to two retention blocks.
