Abstract:
With the object of assisting in the research work being carried on throughout the country toward perfecting a concrete pavement, principally for country roads, both with and without bituminous surface treatment, specifications were drawn for the construction of a roadway to be known as the "Oxford Pike Service Test Concrete Roadway of Philadelphia." These specifications were compiled after consulation with the Association of American Portland Cement Manufactures and with engineers who have made a study of concrete and are experts on this subject, and comprise the latest methods of construction for roadways of this type to be laid under the conditions existing where this pavement is being constructed.
