Abstract:
Reinforced concrete columns in older buildings may require strengthening because of loss of capacity due to corrosion of reinforcing steel or poor quality of the original construction. This article describes a method for enhancing both the axial and flexural capacity of such columns using a fiber-reinforced polymer laminate and provides examples of two retrofit options.
