Abstract:
The Øresund Link will connect Copenhagen, Denmark with Malmö, Sweden by a four-lane motorway and a two-track railway for freight trains as well as electrified high-speed passenger service. In view of the societal importance the design life, i.e., service without major repair or rehabilitation, has been specified as 100 years. With special emphasis on the concrete structures the paper outlines the strategies regarding design, construction, inspection, and maintenance adopted to reach this objective for the 16 km (10 mi) long coast-to-coast section of the Link, comprising land reclamation, immersed tunnel, and bridges.
