Title: Measuring Concrete Modulus of Elasticity
Author(s): David M. Mante
Publication: Concrete International
Appears on pages(s): 28-33
Keywords: compressometer, measurement, stress, strength
Abstract:Since more designers specify minimum required values for modulus of elasticity (Ec) of concrete, direct measurement of Ec is often justified to confirm adherence to a designer-specified elastic modulus or to validate design assumptions. The purpose of this article is to provide background information regarding Ec, a summary of ASTM C469/C469M testing procedures, and guidance to help test operators avoid common errors associated with this test method.
