Abstract:
An attempt has been made to study the dispersing action of sulfonated melamine formaldehyde-based superplasticizer on different grades of cements and fly ash. Adsorption studies and zeta potential measurements were also carried out. Studies show that the dispersing action of the super-plasticizer is maximum for lignite fly ash. Among the different grades of cements, the dispersing action is maximum for the cement containing the least amount of C3A. The adsorption of superplasticizer is reduced when cement is blended with fly ash. These results are also confirmed by the zeta potential measurements. The dispersing action of the superplasticizer on different grades of cements is reduced by the presence of fly ash.
