Abstract:
Low cost, low modulus carbon fibers produced from pitches have been developed in Japan and are increasingly used in construction. The results of a study of the properties of the material are presented in this paper. The testing included workability, strength, deformability, impact resistance, water absorption, and drying shrinkage. In general, the hardened cement properties were considerably improved with an increase in carbon fiber content and by use of 3 mm long fibers rather than those of 10 mm.
