Abstract:
The ACI 318 Building Code is perhaps the most important document of the American Concrete Institute. It is written in mandatory language as a legal document, and as such, is meant to be legally adopted by reference into a general building code. ACI's Building Code provides minimum requirement for, and shall govern in, matter pertaining to the design, construction, and material properties of concrete structural elements. It is the key document from which all the referenced standards cited in Section 3.8 derive their legal stature as mandated and enforceable requirements.
