Abstract:
A refined modeling technique was used for axial/fIexuraI analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) column and beam cross sections. The analytical predictions were compared with test results, and an analytical study was performed on the sensitivity of RC element axial/fIexural response characteristics to the variations in longitudinal steel ratio and yield strength, concrete compressive strength, transverse steel ratio, and the rate of load application. The results are expected to help designers optimize the adjustments in section variables in axial/fIexural design procedures.
