Abstract:
A load test was conducted on a large concrete framed roof with uncertain beam shear strength. The test was unusual for its size and details of construction. Comparisons were made with a series of shear failures of similarly framed buildings in the mid-1950s. Tentative conclusions are drawn about current ACI 318 Building Code provisions for shear as well as the procedures and accuracy of calculating deflections.
