Abstract:
Completed in 1917, the Flushing Viaduct extended the New York City subway system from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan to Flushing, Queens. A photograph taken that year shows Queens Boulevard with the new viaduct running along it, bisecting an empty field to the horizon.
